Bonsai Installation and Configuration#

If you have not already done so,

  1. Download and Install Bonsai

  2. Install the necessary Bonsai packages:

    1. Open Bonsai

    2. Open the Bonsai package manager:

      From the Bonsai landing window, select
      Manage Packages.

      or

      From the Bonsai workflow editor, hover over the Tools tab in the top ribbon to reveal a drop-down menu, and left-click

    3. Select the Browse tab in the top ribbon:

    4. Configure the Package Source field to All using the drop-down menu:

    5. Download and install the required Bonsai packages:

      • Bonsai.StarterPack

      • OpenEphys.Miniscope

      For each one, search its name in the search bar, left-click its corresponding entry, and left-click the Install button. For example:

      Click the I Accept button when prompted.

    6. Download and install the optional Bonsai packages:

      • Bonsai.FFmpeg (for compressed video output)

      Install the package in Bonsai as above. The Bonsai.FFmpeg package requires installing FFmpeg separately in order to work. Follow the FFmpeg installation guide available in the Bonsai.FFmpeg package’s documentation.
